Florida Smart Fertilizing & Landscaping Workshop

The Florida Smart Fertilizing and Landscaping Workshop is Saturday, June 28th from 10am—1pm at the Historic Inverness Courthouse. This hands-on, family-friendly, public workshop is focused on springs-friendly living and sustainable landscaping.

The event will feature practical tips for sustainable landscaping and responsible fertilizer use, updates on efforts to protect our local waterways and actions you can take to protect our springs, wildlife, and improve water quality. Videos of local springs and wildlife will be featured, compliments of Photographer Linda Wilinski.

Featured presenters are Eugene Kelly of the Florida Native Plant Society on springs health, Tiare Fridrich of Save the Manatee Club on efforts to protect manatees, Sierra Club Florida Chapter’s Michael McGrath on the benefits of urban turf fertilizer restrictions during the rainy season, and IFAS Florida Friendly Landscaping Program’s Claire Lewis on Florida Friendly landscaping and resources.

Kids’ activities, free coloring sheets and refreshments will be provided. Hosted by Sierra Club Florida Chapter and Adventure Coast Group in cooperation with Citrus Audubon, Citrus Native Plant Society, League of Women Voters of Citrus County, Linda Wilinski Photography and other community leaders.
