ENRICHMENT DAY: ENHANCING ENVIRONMENTS FOR RESIDENT WILDLIFE

Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, in cooperation with the Friends of Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park, will host an Enrichment Day event on Saturday, April 18th from 10:00am to 2:00pm in the Garden of the Springs. Have you ever wondered what we do to keep our resident animal ambassador’s lives exciting and interesting? If you answered yes, then this is the program for you! Join us for Enrichment Day to learn about the reasons behind wildlife enrichment and the methods that we use to engage all of the animal’s senses. Enrichment helps wildlife under professional care to use many of the same behaviors that they would in the wild and allows them to make choices in their environment. During this event, the Enrichment Team, staff, and volunteers will have multiple stations throughout the Garden of the Springs to illustrate some of the enrichment items that are used by the team and even have participants make some items for the park.
