Summer is a great time to celebrate the natural beauty, outdoor adventure, and small-town charm of Citrus County, a hidden gem along Florida’s Nature Coast. The annual Independence Day events held by The Cities of Inverness, Crystal River, and Homosassa are the perfect way to enjoy all these small towns have to offer!

25th Annual Old Homosassa Fireworks Festival – June 28, Homosassa

A longtime local favorite, the annual Fireworks Festival features live music, a tug-o-war competition, a pie eating contest, and other family fun. This event is perfect for visitors bringing or renting a boat as the whole event takes place along the Homosassa River. The event ends with a stunning firework display over the Homosassa River. Inverness Patriotic Evening – July 3, Inverness

Join the City of Inverness for their annual Independence Day celebration. In addition to the classic firework show over Lake Henderson, the event includes plenty of food vendors, along with live music from Soul Circus Cowboys and country music sensation Frankie Ballard. This event is another great option for boaters as the firework display and concert can be enjoyed from the lake as well as from Liberty Park. Inverness-FL.gov/Patriotic-Evening

Kings Bay Park: July 4th 2025 

The City celebrates the 4th of July holiday every year with an event at Kings Bay Park and a fireworks display over Kings Bay. Join us for live music, food and drinks, vendors, and fun in downtown Crystal River. Fireworks over Kings Bay at 9:00 pm, weather permitting. The show can be viewed from our waterfront areas around Kings Bay but the best location to view the show from land is Kings Bay Park. This is a rain or shine event. Fireworks may be delayed or moved up slightly due to weather.
