Drink Like a Local

Raise a glass and enjoy the taste of locally crafted beer and wine

With hometown wineries and breweries on the rise across the nation, it is no surprise that Citrus County has found itself home to a few. We are true believers that, if you want to get a real-feel for an area, it is important to do as the locals do, and that includes enjoying our favorite local brews!

As the landmark winery and brewery in the area, Copp Winery and Brewery is home to comforting local classics as well as a rotation of exciting new favorites. While their seasonal specials such as creamsicle brews in the summer, or pumpkin wheat beers in the fall are sure to hit the spot, any local will tell you that nothing beats Southern Grit, Copp’s signature cream ale brewed with corn grits.

Not a beer drinker? Don’t worry, Copp has you covered with their extensive wine list! In the last two years alone, wine makers at Copp have produced over 27 new wines, giving visitors something new to try with every visit. This variety and hometown charm makes Copp the perfect place to come in, relax, and enjoy a flight with your friends and family!

If you like a side of rustic, farmhouse charm with your wine, Cavallo Farm and Market is a must stop location for your visit. Their award-winning, 100% pure pressed blueberry wines will please even the pickiest of wine drinkers!

Much more than just a winery, Cavallo is a working blueberry farm with an adorable market and café on site. If you come during the harvest season in April and May, you can make a day out of your trip to Cavallo! Pick some perfectly ripe blueberries straight from the bush, sit down for a delicious lunch with a great glass of wine, and then peruse the shop to pick up locally made souvenirs to bring home to remember your trip.

If a relaxed brewery vibe where the entire family feels at home is more your speed, then be sure to check out Nine State Brewery in Inverness. Fans of Korean cuisine will fall in love with the authentic dumplings, bulgogi, and udon noodle bowls lovingly prepared by Jeanie, mother of the owner and life of the party at Nine State!

Located in the heart of downtown, this low-key brewery is walking distance from the newly renovated Depot district where you will find farmers markets, festivals, and a beautiful lakefront playground. Nine State is also a short walk from the Withlacoochee State Trail, a 46-mile-long cycling/walking trail that is the name sake of one of the breweries most popular beers, the Withlacoochee Trail Ale.

No matter which you choose (and we hope you will try them all!), we know you will have a blast. Cheers!
