National Estuaries Day Open House

Join the Citrus County School District's Marine Science Station and Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Big Bend Seagrass Preserve for our annual Estuaries Day celebration! This event is FREE! The date and time of the event is: Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 9:00am to 1:00pm

Come celebrate our estuaries in the best way - ON THE ESTUARY! Learn about local estuary communities, their importance, and about the plants and animals that call them home. Visit with local environmental agencies, get up close and personal with local marine life in a touch tank, and participate in fun games and activities for all ages. Also, sit back and enjoy the free boat ride over to the Marine Science Station where visitors can explore the beautiful grounds via guided walking tours, explore the aquarium building, and climb the estuary observation tower to get a bird's-eye view of our expansive estuary ecosystem!
