Crystal River, Florida 34428
There really is no place quite like Florida when it comes to fishing and in Florida, there’s really no place quite like the waters of Florida’s Citrus County.
Whether you long for the deep sea offshore or the intricate and pristine mangrove islands and salt water flats inshore, Crystal River and Homosassa are revered far and wide. Three words say it all: "World Class Fishing."
These are some of the most naturally intact waters in the Sunshine State. The St Martins Marsh and Big Bend Aquatic Seagrass Preserves stretch to the horizon and fish and a web of aquatic life teem in the waters below. You’ll likely have one of your best days or weeks here angling for trophy redfish, snook, gag grouper, sea trout and sheepshead or even a record cobia or tarpon on a fly.
The best experience is always with our accomplished guides, some of whom trace their lineage back generations to the founding of the venerable Atlanta Fishing Club and the Homosassa Guides Association. Life here is lived in amphibious small towns where a boat is just as common as a pick-up truck and fishing is an esteemed way of life connecting one generation to the next.
And that’s just the half of it! Inland, Lake Rousseau and the thirty-mile long Tsala Apopka Chain of Lakes along the margin of the Withlacoochee River provide one of Florida’s top freshwater fishing sites. Large-mouth bass, white bass, crappie, stripers, catfish, bowfin and gar abound and stories around the table stretch long into the night. Perfection!
BOATING SAFETY
Safe navigation on our waterways is everyone’s responsibility. All operators are equally responsible for taking action necessary for safe boating. This includes understanding navigation rules, speed laws, manatee laws, and providing adequate safety equipment and obtaining all proper licenses for vessel operation.
For fishing, a saltwater and/or freshwater fishing license is required for all boaters between the ages of 16 and 65. There may be exceptions to this, so before beginning your excursion, familiarize yourself with the laws found on the FWC website.
FISHING REGULATIONS
To purchase a fishing license, please click here or obtain one from a local sporting goods store.Since fishing regulations are created and maintained at the state level, it is recommended that you check with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission prior to any fishing excursion.
