Moon Over the Mounds
Join experienced guides on a night-time, torch-lit walking tour of the Crystal River Archaeological State Park, a National Landmark.
This hour-long program explores the history of this ancient ceremonial site and its importance to the Native inhabitants of the Crystal River area. This six-mound complex is one of the longest occupied pre-Columbian sites in Florida.
View the shimmering waters of the Crystal River by moonlight from the top of a Temple Mound build around 600 AD, still the highest point in Crystal River today. You will learn about the Ancient River Dwellers who lived here and leave with a new sense of wonder surrounding this magical place and an increased appreciation for Florida and Native American History.
A $10.00 donation per adult is requested, so that we may continue to provide this and other educational programs. There is no charge for children under 12. Dress appropriately -- it may be cool. Also, insect repellent and a flashlight are highly recommended.
